What is TTRPG?
TTRPG stands for Tabletop Role Playing Game, where you play and develop the story as you go. The biggest difference between them and other board games is that rather than experiencing someone else’s story, you’re creating the encounters, the conflicts, and even the goals you’re trying to achieve. Then, a solo RPG is one where you play and make the story independently.
What’s the best game for a beginner?
You can only be a beginner once, and there is no best game for beginners! The best game for your friend may not be the best for you. Tabletop or card games the range of game mechanics is far broader now than it’s ever been, it’s impossible to try them all.
Many games can be picked up and learned by newcomers but everyone who is part of the community is willing to help. Whether it be learning Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer, or Chess.
Why do so many people refer to the hobby as “D&D” when there are so many other games?
Dungeons & Dragons is the original tabletop game, and it’s still the most popular. It’s usually the only tabletop RPG anyone knows by name. So, the mass media and most non-gamers refer to all forms of tabletop roleplaying as D&D.
What’s the best tabletop RPG?
Just as there is no best RPG for a beginner, there is no best tabletop RPG. It’s like asking ten people to agree on what movie is the best of all time. Do you like superhero movies? Horror movies? Mind-bending science fiction?
There are as many varieties in tabletop RPGs as in movies. So your preferences will dictate which games you like best.
What do you need?
RPGs, but you rarely need a lot. You need the right dice for example, don’t let that put you off, as you can find a number of these online. Our community has everything you need and we are more than willing to point you in the right direction for getting everything.
